Mousetrap's eleventh season opens with a Bach Chaconne; Brahm's beautiful Sonata No. 2 in F, partnered with series favorite Tanya Anisimova on cello; then some Moussorgsky. The concert concludes with Liszt in whirlwind moods: contemplative and romantic, sparkling and delicate, and finally overflowing with the zest of a wedding march.
This gifted twosome knows whereof they sing, "Isn't it Romantic?" a lovely afternoon of romantic art songs, arias and duets from the 19th Century to today. Gounod, Brahms, Schumann, Finzi, Mahler and Faure think about love in many different ways, all adding dimension to Mousetrap's season of variations.
As varied as the unfolding new year, RONN MCFARLANE, MINDY ROSENFELD and MARK CUDEK dazzle with lute, flutes, cittern, early guitar and viola da gamba, covering an amazing span from early Renaissance and Celtic music to compositions familiar to contemporary ears.
Like tangos? Melancholy? Romance? Mousetrap winds up its 11th season with two charismatic and virtuoso musicians who fill the halls with pizzazz and perfection, whatever your taste: Piazzolla, Rachmaninoff, Villa-Lobos, Morricone, and more! If variety is your spice in life, plan to secure your tickets early and relish what you'll hear this season.

Roy McCathran, the Town's first mayor, referred poetically to Washington Grove as "a town within a forest, an oasis of tranquility and a rustic jewel in the diadem of the great free state of Maryland."
