Mayor Anderson called the regular meeting of the Town Council to order at 7:35 p.m. In attendance were Councilors Charlie Challstrom, Georgette Cole, Marida Hines and Ted Kelly. Also present were Town residents Bob Booher and David Stopak.
Georgette Cole moved, Marida Hines seconded that the agenda for December 7, 2009 be approved. Mayor Anderson requested the addition of an update for 344 Ridge Road to the Mayor's announcements and a resolution to the Deer Park Bridge discussion. Charlie Challstrom requested the addition of a budget discussion of the Legacy Open Space legal expenses to the Treasurer's Report. Vote: 4-0.
There were no public appearances.
Joe Clark moved, Charlie Challstrom seconded that the Town Council minutes for November 9, 2009 be approved. Vote: 4-0. Charlie Challstrom moved, Ted Kelly seconded that the Town Council minutes for November 23, 2009 be approved. Vote: 4-0.
There was a brief discussion about the recent legal expenses for the LOS condemnation suit. Charlie Challstrom also brought forth the question of applying for stimulus money for Town road work. The general sense of the Council was yes, Charlie should research this issue. The Treasurer's Report for November 2009 was accepted. Vote: 4-0.
Joe Clark moved, Georgette Cole seconded that the Council Reports from November 2009 be approved for posting on the Town website. Vote: 4-0.
The Town Council reviewed Resolution 2009-05: Resolution Regarding National Gateway Clearance Improvement Project and a letter to Ms. Register at ARCADIS. They discussed and made minor changes. Charlie Challstrom moved to adopt Resolution 2009-05 as amended. Marida Hines seconded the motion. Vote: 4-0.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:04 p.m.
Roy McCathran, the Town's first mayor, referred poetically to Washington Grove as "a town within a forest, an oasis of tranquility and a rustic jewel in the diadem of the great free state of Maryland."
